2022 World Cup Qualifiers (Day 2/Update): Morocco Qualifies for Playoffs after Beating Guinea (4-1)

The Moroccan Football Team ( The Atlas Lions )  qualified for the 3rd and last round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, after beating Guinea with a score of 4 goals to 1, on Tuesday evening at the Prince Moulay Abdallah sports complex in Rabat, in the update of the 2nd day (group I).

The Atlas Lions won thanks to goals by Ayoub El Kaabi (21st), Selim Amallah (42nd, 65th), and Soufiane Boufal (89th), while Mamadou Kane saved the honor for the Guineans (31st).

This victory has allowed Morocco to consolidate its first place (12 pts), while Guinea is still 3rd with 3 points. Guinea Bissau occupies the second position (4 pts), and Sudan ranks last with 2 points.

“I am satisfied with the performance of the players. We will try to show more efficiency and improve our level”, the national coach ‘’Vahid Halilhodzic’’ said in a statement, noting that some players who have just strengthened the ranks of the Atlas Lions have brought a plus to the group.

In the meanwhile, the Goalkeeper of the National Team, Yassine Bounou, felt that the match against Guinea would be definitely competitive, noting that the level of the players has been improving in recent matches owing to vigilant efforts on their part.
