39th Ordinary Session of AU Executive Council is launched with Participation of Morocco

The 39th ordinary session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) took place on Thursday in Addis Ababa with the participation of Morocco.

The Kingdom is represented by a delegation led by the Ambassador Director General of Bilateral Relations and Regional Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Yazourh, and which includes also the Ambassador Permanent representative of the Kingdom to the AU and UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi, as well as the Ambassador Director General of the Moroccan International Cooperation Agency (AMCI), Mohamed Methqal.

At this session, the Executive Board will consider the report of the 42nd ordinary session of the AU Permanent Representatives Committee, the report on the operational implementation of the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Africa), as well as the concept note and roadmap for the 2022 theme on nutrition and food security.                          

The Council will elect two commissioners of the AU Commission, the President and Vice-President of the Pan-African University (PAU), and four members of the African Union Advisory Council on Corruption.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, speaking at the opening of this session, stressed the need to take a fresh look at the field of multilateral cooperation, noting in this sense that the ongoing development of a draft partnership strategy and policy framework documents provides an opportunity for such an approach.
