Barid Al-Maghrib adopts electric vehicles

Rabat, June 14, 2022

Barid Al-Maghrib launches the circulation of 225 electric vehicles exclusively dedicated to the modernization and expansion of its mail-parcel distribution network. The kick-off for this operation was given in Rabat on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Ryad Mezzour.
Designed in Kénitra by Stellantis Kénitra especially for Barid Al-Maghrib, following an agreement signed in October 2020, these electric vehicles of the Citroën Ami type are suitable for daily distribution activity and have a range of 75 km, while the full charge does not exceed a duration of 3 hours.
A real springboard to a new era, these vehicles meet Barid Al-Maghrib’s objective of adopting eco-mobility in order to help reduce transport-related CO2 emissions and ensure clean and sustainable mobility.
On this occasion, Mr. Ryad Mezzour declared: “Thanks to the strong impetus given by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to clean energies, we are moving forward with serenity in our energy transition. Witness this fruitful collaboration between the Stellantis group and Barid Al-Maghrib, which has given birth to locally manufactured electric cars and reaffirmed the common desire of public and private operators to support the development of electric mobility in Morocco and to make it the ‘one of the strong links in the national industry’. And to add: “This choice is part of an eco-responsible approach responding to the global concerns raised by climate change that Moroccan industry puts at the service of the modernization and proximity of public services provided to citizens”.
Barid Al-Maghrib’s electric vehicles will be put into circulation in 42 cities across all regions. As for their distribution, it will obey the size and volume of mail-parcel delivery.
