FM Nasser Bourita Reaffirms Morocco’s Constant Commitment to Palestinian Cause Under Leadership of HM King Mohammed VI

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed on March 6 in Cairo, that Morocco’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee, is “constant, concrete and cannot be the subject of overbidding”.

Intervening at the opening of the 161st session of the Council of the League of Arab States (AL) at the level of foreign ministers, Bourita reiterated the Kingdom’s call for an urgent, global, and lasting ceasefire to guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid without restrictions, rejecting attempts at the forced displacement of civilians, and respecting international humanitarian law.

Expressing solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people, the Moroccan official recalled that the Kingdom had provided, on the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, significant quantities of urgent humanitarian aid including food and medical supplies, while additional aid was delivered by Bayt Mal Al Quds Acharif Agency, the executive arm of Al-Quds Committee, to the main hospital and social establishments in charge of emergency medical and social cases resulting from the developments in the Gaza Strip.

In a similar context, the minister indicated that Morocco “had called, on the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, and in coordination with our brothers in the State of Palestine, for the holding, on October 11, 2023, of an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Council at ministerial level during which we stressed the need for a ceasefire, to spare civilians, to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid and to prevent attempts of forced displacement.”

Bourita also stressed that peace, as repeatedly emphasized by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will remain the strategic option for the region and the only path to guarantee stability for all its peoples.

Referring to the situation prevailing in some Arab countries which are witnessing political crises, wars, and conflicts, such as Yemen, Sudan, and Syria, the diplomat Bourita emphasized that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, hopes to see stability restored in these States through the promotion of dialogue and peaceful initiatives instead of resorting to military solutions.
