Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of the Azerbaijan Republic, reiterated, on December 15 in Rabat, her country’s permanent and constant position in support of Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, welcoming the convergence of views between the two countries on numerous continental and international issues.
During her meeting with the Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, Gafarova, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a large delegation, praised the remarkable development that Morocco is witnessing in various fields, shedding light on the excellent political relations between the two countries.
According to a press release from the House of Councilors, the Azerbaijani official stressed the need to promote economic cooperation and invest in all opportunities offered, noting that the two countries are required to give new dynamism to their cooperation at the parliamentary level, through the strengthening of dialogue and consultation mechanisms, in the service of issues of common interest.
For his part, Mayara welcomed this visit which reflects the excellent ties uniting Morocco and Azerbaijan, adding that this meeting takes place in a particular context marked by the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In this regard, the Moroccan official recalled the holding of the second session of the joint commission for bilateral cooperation, which was sanctioned by the conclusion of a series of agreements, an illustration of the two countries’ commitment to strengthen cooperation, in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev.
Following a detailed explanation of the actions of the House of Councilors, its composition, and prerogatives, Mayara expressed the willingness of the Moroccan legislative institution to accompany the process of development of relations between the two countries.
In a similar context, the Moroccan official extended his gratitude to Azerbaijan for “its firm and constant position in support of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces”, reaffirming Morocco’s continued support for Azerbaijan in various international forums.
