Moroccan athlete Soufiane El Bakkali, reigning Olympic, world, and Diamond League champion, recorded the World’s Best Performance (MPM) of the year in the 3000 m steeplechase during Mohammed VI International Athletics Meeting, the second stage of the Diamond League, which took place on May 28 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
El Bakkali clocked 7:56.68, breaking the previous record set on May 6 by American Kenneth Rooks.
The Moroccan athlete also set a new meeting record, beating the record that he set in June (7:58.28).
