Zakaria Nejjari, an athlete of the Moroccan national para-taekwondo team, won a bronze medal on the first day of the World Para-Taekwondo Championship, held in Veracruz, Mexico (September 21-24).
In the qualifying rounds, Nejjari beat Azerbaijan’s champion (17-15), who ranked third in the World Championship.
The Moroccan athlete also defeated South Korea’s champion in the round of 16 (26-9) and then Japan’s champion in the quarter-finals (24-7).
Nejjari lost in the semi-finals (8-11) to the Israeli champion, who is ranked first in the world and crowned champion of this Championship.
