The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, stated, on January 10, that Morocco highly commends the “constructive” position of the Republic of Bulgaria regarding the Moroccan Sahara.
Speaking at a joint press briefing following his talks with his Bulgarian counterpart, Mariya Gabriel, Bourita noted that the Kingdom also praises Bulgaria’s positivity towards the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a serious and credible basis for resolving the regional dispute over the Sahara.
In this regard, the Foreign Minister indicated that Bulgaria has now become the 15th country of the European Union to be part of this dynamic, which confirms the positive momentum surrounding the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Bourita also affirmed that the Joint Declaration which crowned his talks with Gabriel confirms the new impetus which must be given to bilateral relations, adding that this declaration also expresses the two countries’ willoigness to further develop these relations while focusing on regional issues.
