Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union: Morocco Reiterates Support for Palestinian Cause

The Moroccan delegation taking part in the 36th Congress of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union reiterated, on May 26 in Algiers, Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al Quds Committee.

Speaking on behalf of the Moroccan delegation, the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Sibari, shed light on the initiatives of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, the executive arm of Al Quds Committee, aimed at safeguarding the cultural identity of the holy city and supporting the resistance of Palestinians.

“Peace and coexistence have been and will remain one of the components of the doctrine of Moroccan diplomacy, under the leadership of His Majesty the King,” stated Sibari, reaffirming the Kingdom’s constant and historical positions in favor of peace, and the efforts invested by His Majesty the King to preserve the legal status and the historical and civilizational character of Al Quds.

In this regard, the Moroccan recalled the Royal Speech addressed to the 33rd Arab League Summit in Manama, in which the Sovereign stressed the need to keep the Palestinian Cause at the center of any action aimed at establishing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.

In the same context, Sibari noted that in these difficult times marked by constant Israeli aggression, it is necessary to provide political support for the Palestinian cause by unifying the Arab position and building an Arab environment based on mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of States, while respecting their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also stressed the imperative to act at the level of regional and international parliamentary forums to put an end to Israeli aggressions, lift the siege imposed on the Palestinian people, and mobilize parliamentary support to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

The Moroccan Parliament is taking part in the work of the 34th session of the Executive Committee and the 36th Congress of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (UPA), held from May 25 to 27 in Algiers, with the participation of presidents and heads of delegation of Arab parliaments, and in the presence of representatives of Arab, regional and international organizations.
