Australia’s ambassador to Morocco, Michael Cutts, met last Thursday, January 19, with the Chairman of the Europe Commission of the Moroccan Association of Exporters (ASMEX), Philippe-Edern Klein, at the Association’s headquarters.
The association revealed, in a statement, that this meeting is a step towards the expansion of trade and bilateral relations, which are still very limited between the two countries, in an effort to make Morocco a major partner in Africa for Australia and a hub for Sub-Saharan African markets.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed the major areas of strengthening bilateral cooperation, stressing the need to foster cooperation between Morocco and Australia in agriculture and agrifood, while also highlighting the benefits both parties would enjoy. At the end of this meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of implementing a legal framework and proposed to jointly take initiatives by organizing a webinar under the theme “Doing Business with Australia” to raise awareness among Moroccan economic actors on the opportunities available in the Australian market, which could be followed by a B2B project based on the main interests identified.
