The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) dismantled, on May 3, a terrorist network made up of five supporters of the terrorist organization Daesh for their alleged involvement in the preparation of terrorist plans aimed at undermining public order.
According to a press release, the suspects, aged between 22 and 46, were arrested by the special forces reporting to the DGST in Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Martil, and in the rural commune of Ounagha in the province of Essaouira.
The first phase of the investigation revealed that the suspects, who pledged allegiance to the so-called caliphate of the Daesh organization, expressed their intention to carry out terrorist projects targeting vital installations and security institutions, indicated the same source.
The investigation also revealed that one of the members of this terrorist network, who is knowledgeable in the electronic field, planned the manufacture of explosive devices.
The members of this terrorist network were placed in custody as part of the judicial investigation carried out by the BCIJ under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases, to determine the nature of the links of this terrorist network and unveil its plans and projects.
