Fez will host between July 6 and 7, the third International Conference on Water and Climate (ICWC3), under the theme “Basin Management, Key to Adaptation and Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”
Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this conference is organized by the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO), and the World Water Council (WWC).
The Ministry of Equipment and Water reported that the conference aims to discuss the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and the challenges of climate change, bringing together political representatives and international experts who will share their expertise in this field.
The Ministry also added that this international meeting will also be an opportunity to highlight basin organizations as key players in all aspects of water resource management, therefore, sending a strong message to the international water and climate community about the importance of intensifying efforts to implement Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the basin level as a tool for adapting to climate change.
The conference, expected to bring together about 500 participants from different countries, will focus on five key themes, namely “Innovation and Technologies for Water Saving,” “Groundwater Management,” “Water Governance,” “Mobilization of Water Resources,” and “Commitments by and for Basins.”
These themes have been derived from His Majesty the King’s speech on October 14, 2022, on the occasion of the opening of the second legislative year of the 11th legislature, which focused on water challenges in the Kingdom.
The third edition of the International Conference on Water and Climate (ICWC3) follows the successful organization of the first and second editions held respectively in Rabat in 2016 and Marseille in 2017.
