The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held talks, on May 30 in Rabat, with his Zambian counterpart, Stanley Kakubo, who delivered a message from His Excellency Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
During a press briefing following his talks with Bourita, Kakubo stated he was “the bearer of a message from the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, to the Supreme Attention of His Majesty the King,” adding that he had agreed with his Moroccan counterpart to strengthen bilateral relations in several fields.
The Zambian foreign minister praised the quality of political and diplomatic relations between Morocco and Zambia, recalling that Zambia, similar to other African countries, opened a consulate general in Laayoune in October 2020.
In this regard, Kakubo added that the inauguration of his country’s consulate general “is a clear indication of Zambia’s support” for the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, Bourita stated that the Zambian President’s message to the Sovereign “underlines the solid bilateral relations uniting Morocco and Zambia and the desire to strengthen these relations.”
Bourita added that relations between Morocco and Zambia are based “on mutual respect, solidarity, and friendship,” noting the two countries are committed, under the High Directives of His Majesty the King and President Hichilema, to further strengthening their economic partnership.
