His Majesty King Mohammed Vl has announced a three-day national mourning following the earthquake that hit the region of Al Haouz on the evening of Friday, September 8.
The decision was taken during a working session that took place on Saturday, September 9, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, which was devoted to the examination of the situation. The session was chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, who was accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan.
His Majesty the King also gave His High Instructions to the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs for the performance of Salat Al Ghaib (absentee funeral prayer) in all of the Kingdom’s mosques for the victims.
On this painful occasion, the Sovereign extended His sincere gratitude to the numerous brotherly countries that have shown solidarity with the Moroccan people and expressed their availability to provide the necessary assistance in these difficult circumstances.
