His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid chaired, on June 11 in Rabat, the award ceremony of the 22nd edition of Hassan II Traditional Equestrian Arts “Tbourida’” Trophy, which is part of the 2023 Moroccan Championship.
This edition was held between June 5 and 11 at the Royal Complex for Equestrian Sports and Tbourida in Dar Es-Salam, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Upon his arrival, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid was greeted by the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation for Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), Moulay Abdellah Alaoui.
After reviewing a section of the Auxiliary Forces that made the honors, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid was greeted by Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, and Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
His Royal Highness was also greeted by the President of the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (NOC), Fayçal Laraichi, the Wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, Mohamed El Yacoubi, members of the Royal Moroccan Federation for Equestrian Sports (FRMSE) federal board, sponsors, and several other personalities.
HRH Prince Moulay Rachid then proceeded to the tent of honor, where His Royal Highness attended the final of Hassan II Traditional Equestrian Arts “Tbourida” Trophy, to the applause of the large crowd present at the Royal Equestrian Sports and Tbourida Complex in Dar Es-Salam.
Following the end of this prestigious competition, organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation for Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), HRH Prince Moulay Rachid presented the medals for the “seniors” category of the 22nd Hassan II Traditional Equestrian Arts “Tbourida” Trophy. The gold medal went to Moqaddem Harit El Yousfi’s troop from the (Casablanca-Settat/El Jadida region), the silver to Hamid Serfak’s troop (Marrakech-Safi/Youssoufia region), and the bronze to Moqaddem Oussama El Assri’s troop (Casablanca-Settat/Mohammedia region).
His Royal Highness also presented the medals for the juniors event, where the Sorba of Moqaddem Ayman Id Salem snatched gold (Marrakech-Safi/Tahanaout region), while the silver and bronze medals went to the Sorbas of Mohamed Gharrabou (Beni Mellal-Khenifra region) and Badr Zouraizae (Casablanca-Settat-Mohammedia region) respectively.
Afterward, HRH Prince Moulay Rachid posed for a souvenir photo with the winning riders in the senior and junior categories, and for another photo-souvenir with Moqaddems of the different Sorbas who took part in the 22nd Hassan II Traditional Equestrian Arts “Tbourida” Trophy.
Sorbas are evaluated according to criteria set by judges from the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), which take into account the unity of the riders’ movements, the gallop’s rhythm, the rifles’ movement, the timing of the shot, traditional clothing, and the saddle.
Riders are also judged based on their coordination and communication, control of the horse, and the general appearance of both the rider and the horse.
The title of the 21st edition was won by the Sorba of Moqaddem Maher El Bachir (Casablanca-Settat region) in the senior category and the Sorba of Moqaddem Ossama El Aoussi (Marrakech-Safi region) in the junior category.
