The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) will organize on October 11 and 12 the 1st edition of the International Conference of Scholars of the Islamic World, under the theme “Al-Farabi and his contributions to human history.”
ICESCO reported on its website that this edition aims to promote Al-Farabi’s contributions worldwide, highlight his role in the intellectual rapprochement between the East and the West, and raise awareness of the role of the countries of the Islamic world in building the world’s cultural identity throughout history.
On this occasion, the Organization calls on scientists, researchers, university professors, institutes, research centers, and students to participate by submitting research papers on Al-Farabi’s intellectual contributions.
A special jury will evaluate the research and award financial prizes to the three best, worth USD 5000, USD 3000, and USD 2000, respectively. The research theme must relate to one of the Conference themes, which are “Al-Farabi and his impact on human philosophy,” “Al-Farabi’s theories in philosophy of science and political philosophy,” “Al-Farabi’s philosophy and aesthetics of music,” and “Today’s Innovation in Al-Farabi studies.”
Participants are invited to send their research abstracts to one of the following email addresses: culture@icesco.org or rabat@mfa.kz, provided they do not exceed 500 words and are written in Arabic, English, or French.
ICESCO also stressed that the abstract submission deadline is August 20, while the deadline for the full research submissions is October 1. Following the jury’s evaluation of the participating research abstracts, the research nominated for the prizes will be announced on September 1, while the winners will be announced and the prizes awarded at the Conference, organized in partnership with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Rabat.
