Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks, Tuesday in Rabat, with the President of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group, Heather Wheeler, on ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Morocco and the UK.
According to a statement from the House of Representatives, this meeting was an opportunity for the two parties to review the deep historical and cultural ties uniting Morocco and the UK and examine ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, namely through the institutionalization of bilateral and multilateral relations, the creation of spaces for dialogue, in addition to the presentation of parliamentary expertise of the two countries and the discussion of issues of common interest.
During this meeting, Talbi Alami and Wheeler praised the excellent relations between the two Kingdoms and the fruitful cooperation between the Moroccan and British parliaments, as well as the strong partnership between the House of Representatives and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), allowing the two parties to exchange expertise and explore the UK’s parliamentary system.
The discussions between Talbi Alami and Wheeler were also an opportunity to exchange views on several regional, continental, and international issues of common interest.
On a working visit to Morocco, the President of the UK-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship Group will hold a series of meetings with several officials and will conduct field visits to get acquainted with the national political and parliamentary expertise and explore the major projects underway in Morocco, with the aim of establishing a constructive and lasting dialogue between parliamentarians of the two countries.
