Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks, Tuesday in Rabat, with the Speaker of the Dominican Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco Osoria, who is currently on a working visit to Morocco (May 23 and 29) on ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation.
The House of Representatives reported that the meeting, also attended by the President of the Morocco-Dominican Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, Abderrazak Hachimi, and the Dominican Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Morocco, Amaury Justo Duarte, stressed the imperative for parliamentary cooperation between the two legislative institutions through constant consultation and coordination, exchange of visits, consolidation of win-win partnerships between Morocco and the Dominican Republic, and mutual respect of sovereignty.
Talbi Alami and Pacheco Osoria also discussed the peculiarities of the parliamentary expertise of the two countries and explored means to exchange expertise.
On this occasion, Talbi Alami commended the positive position of the Dominican Republic on Morocco’s territorial integrity, noting that the Kingdom is a regional role model in stability and aims to preserve international peace and resolve conflicts in peaceful ways.
The Moroccan official further emphasized the major projects launched by Morocco in over 20 years under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which focus on human capital in all its dimensions and manifestations.
For his part, Pacheco Osoria praised the deep-rooted relations between the two countries that share several interests, as reflected in the relations between the Moroccan House of Representatives and Dominican Chamber of Deputies at the bilateral and multilateral levels, within the framework of mutual respect for the sovereignty and unity of states.
In this regard, Pacheco Osoria recalled that the House of Representatives is an observer member of the Central American Parliament and the Forum of Presidents of the Legislative Bodies of Central America and the Caribbean Basin.
At the bilateral level, the Dominican official shed light on the bilateral cooperation agreement concluded by the two legislative institutions in October 2014, to enhance rapprochement, coexistence, solidarity, and mutual understanding.
As part of this working visit, the Speaker of the Dominican Chamber of Deputies and his accompanying delegation will hold a series of meetings with several officials and conduct on-site visits to explore the major projects launched by Morocco.
