President of the Austrian National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka, praised, Monday in Rabat, the important strategic role that Morocco plays at the regional level, stressing his country’s support to the policies of preservation of stability and peace adopted by the Kingdom.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and development of relations between Morocco and Austria, Sobotka highlighted the promising prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, politics, security, migration, and renewable energy, expressing the desire to further expand the scope of trade and direct investment between Morocco and Austria.
For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, stressed the importance of this memorandum of understanding in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation at the international level, highlighting the distinguished cooperation relations between Morocco and Austria.
Talbi Alami also highlighted the distinguished cooperation relations linking Morocco and Austria, welcoming Austria’s position in favor of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan for the Southern provinces, which was “clearly expressed during the Austrian Chancellor’s last visit to the Kingdom.”
Talbi Alami and Sobotka signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which commemorates the 240th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Austria. This memorandum also provides for the strengthening of ties based on the principles of equality and reciprocity in the best interest of the two countries, in addition to the development of relations at political and administrative levels.
Under this memorandum, the two parties pledge to work to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, including the exchange of expertise on issues of common interest both bilaterally and at the level of international parliamentary organizations.
