Saudi Arabia reiterated in New York its support for the Autonomy Plan presented by Morocco to reach a definitive solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, within the framework of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Intervening before the Fourth Committee (4C) of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Saudi Arabia’s Representative, Hassan Mohammed A. Alamri, stressed that his country “reaffirms its support of the Autonomy Plan for the Moroccan Sahara within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” as a solution in line with international law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly.
Alamri stressed that Saudi Arabia condemns any attack against the supreme interests of the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The Saudi diplomat also expressed his country’s support for Morocco’s efforts to achieve a realistic political solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, based on compromise and the relevant Security Council (SC) resolutions, and under the supervision of the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG).
