US Time Magazine listed Rabat, an emerging cultural metropolis, among the World’s “Extraordinary Destinations” to explore in 2023.
The magazine named the capital of Morocco as one of the 50 extraordinary destinations to visit in 2023 thanks to the creative and cultural transformation that is revitalizing the city.
Among the numerous attractions and attributes in Rabat, Time magazine mentioned the LEED-Gold and HQE-certified Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest tower in Africa, which offers luxury accommodations and a magnificent viewing terrace at approximately 250 meters.
The media outlet also cited the newly completed multifunctional cultural venue Grand Theatre of Rabat, describing it as the largest theater in Africa and the Arab world.
Time magazine recalled that this theatre will host ballet, opera, symphony, and philharmonic performances, noting that the innovative wave-shaped building features a crystalline geometric auditorium designed by the late Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid.
Time’s Magazine also reported that Rabat will host, this year, Visa for Music, an annual festival focusing on emerging artists from Africa and the Middle East, in addition to Rabat’s International Author Film Festival with 18 films on display.
“Steeper costs and increased interest in sustainability and authenticity are reshaping the landscape. To compile this list of the World’s Greatest Places, the top spots to visit this year, TIME solicited nominations of places from our international network of correspondents and contributors, with an eye toward those offering new and exciting experiences,” stated the magazine.
