Ukraine expressed its support for the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, presented by Morocco in 2007, considering it a “serious and credible” solution for the “successful” settlement of the Moroccan Sahara issue.
Ukraine’s position was reaffirmed by the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, during a press briefing following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
Kuleba also stated that both Morocco and Ukraine value and respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
The Ukrainian official also stressed that his country supports the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General for the Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, to find a realistic and mutually acceptable political solution, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations (UN) Security Council (SC).
In this regard, Kuleba emphasized that the Saraha issue’s resolution is essential for the region’s peace and security.
