Morocco’s head coach, Walid Regragui, stated Monday in Madrid, that the Atlas Lions will play the friendly match against Peru, tonight at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, with the same spirit they had when they played against Brazil.
“We still have the same spirit. The Moroccan team respects their opponent and we are working to preserve the same spirit that allowed us to qualify for the final four of the Qatar World Cup and defeat Brazil on Saturday in Tangier,” said Regragui during a press conference held in Valdebebas prior to the friendly against Peru.
Regragui added that “the match against Peru will be a difficult one, especially after Morocco’s victory over Brazil,” stressing that the players are working to “maintain their level and focus on details as they strive to score another win.”
“Peru is an organized great team with elite players. Winning against Morocco has become a challenge for all teams, and it is up to us to reaffirm our capabilities as a team,” added the head coach.
In a similar context, Regragui stated that he will wait for the last training session to monitor the players and their performance, especially the injured ones, before deciding on the 11 players who will face Peru on Tuesday, March 28, confirming the absence of rising star Azzedine Ounahi due to injury.
“We will do our best to have the best team possible to win the game,” concluded Regragui.
The Atlas Lions, who defeated the Seleçao on Saturday, March 25, in Tangier (2-1), will face Peru on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m (GMT). in their second friendly match following the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
