Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, held talks, on October 11 in Marrakech, with the CEO of the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), Scott Nathan, on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings (October 9-15).
In a statement to the press following this meeting, which was also attended by Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli, Nathan praised the “extremely productive” meeting which focused on financing opportunities for Morocco’s private sector and Moroccan companies developing their activities in Africa.
Emphasizing DFC’s commitment to supporting economic growth in Morocco, whether in the energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agri-food, or small business sectors, the American CEO affirmed that the institution is willing to finance projects undertaken by Moroccan companies.
The American official also commended Morocco’s organization of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), particularly following the tragic earthquake that shook several regions of the Kingdom on September 8.
Nathan shed light on the deep and age-old friendship ties uniting Morocco and the United States, reiterating his country’s readiness to assist in post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
It should be recalled that the Head of Government also held talks with the Mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Boutaleb, on the sidelines of this event, which kicked off on October 9 in Marrakech, with the participation of the world’s economic and financial gotha, with the aim of examining the main issues linked to financing policies, economic growth, and climate change.
