The Fédération internationale de football (International Federation of Football), FIFA, announced, on September 14, that Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou is one of the five nominees for The 2023 Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper Award, alongside Thibaut Courtois, Ederson, André Onana, and Marc-André ter Stegen.
FIFA explained in a press release that the goalkeepers in the running for the next Best FIFA Football Awards have been selected based on their performance between December 19, 2022, and August 20, 2023, noting that voting will remain open until October 6.
“Fans of the beautiful game from across the globe are now able to cast their votes for The Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Men’s Player, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, and The FIFA Fan Award,” announced FIFA.
FIFA also unveiled the nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award, namely Julián Álvarez, Marcelo Brozović, Kevin De Bruyne, İlkay Gündoğan, Erling Haaland, Rodri, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Victor Osimhen, Declan Rice and Bernardo Silva.
For The Best Women’s Goalkeeper award, FIFA nominated Mackenzie Arnold, Ann-Katrin Berger, Catalina Coll, Mary Earps, Christiane Endler, Zećira Mušović, and Sandra Paños García-Villamil.
