On the morning of January 2, an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the province of Azilal.
According to the seismic alert bulletin issued by the National Institute of Geophysics (ING), the earthquake struck at 08:37:51 (GMT+1), with its epicenter located in the commune of Ait M’hammed.
The earthquake was recorded at 13 kilometers deep, with the geographic coordinates of the epicenter being 31.902°N in latitude and 6.441°W in longitude.
The shock was felt by the inhabitants of the region, indicates the bulletin.
