Moroccan referee Bouchra Karboubi received, on January 10 in Dubai, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, in the category of “best Arab football referee.”
This prestigious award was presented to Karboubi during a ceremony organized in Al-Jumeira, in recognition of her leadership and the performance she demonstrated as the first professional referee to officiate international matches in high-level competitions, such as the men’s African Cup of Nations (CAN) and the women’s World Cup.
Bouchra Karboubi combines her professional functions in the prefectural service of the judicial police in Meknes and as an international football referee, brilliantly representing Moroccan women in this field and thus consolidating the Kingdom’s excellence in sports.
It should be recalled that the 12th edition of The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award was dominated by Moroccan champions who were awarded prizes in several categories.
The Atlas Lions were crowned the Best Arab National Team Award for their historic achievement during the 2022 Qatar World Cup, while Walid Regragui was named Best Arab Coach.
For his part, Olympic and world champion Soufiane El Bakkali snatched the Sustainable Sports Achievement Award, while pugilist Khadija Al-Mardi and tennis player Malak Alami were respectively elected Arab Athlete and Junior Arab Athlete with exceptional success in the field.
