The Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Eastern Mediterranean, Hanan Balkhy, commended on May 25 in Geneva, the Royal Vision aimed at achieving health sovereignty across Morocco.
During a meeting with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, on the sidelines of the 77th World Health Assembly, Balkhy hailed the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at enhancing the Moroccan health system, as well as the support provided by the Sovereign to other African countries to help achieve health sovereignty all across the continent, noting that this royal vision contributes to strengthening regional cooperation and opens new perspectives for health development.
In a similar context, the WHO official commended the role that the Kingdom plays as a bridge between the Organization and African countries, affirming that Morocco can serve as a model in public health and international cooperation.
Discussions between Balkhy and Ait Taleb also focused on strengthening cooperation between Morocco and the WHO and the development of the health system in Morocco and in the region.
In this regard, the Moroccan minister shed light the projects underway in the Kingdom, in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty the King, notbaly the project relating to the generalization of social protection and the reform of the national health system.
