Per the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the 2024 African Lion exercise will be jointly conducted by the FAR and the United States Armed Forces from May 20 to 31 in Benguérir, Agadir, Tan-Tan, Akka and Tifnit.
According to a press release from the FAR General Staff, over 7,000 armed forces elements from around twenty countries in addition to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will take part in these large-scale military maneuvers in Morocco.
The exercise will include several activities such as tactical, land, maritime, and air exercises, combined, day and night, and special forces exercises, airborne operations, as well as an operational planning exercise for executives of the staff of the “Task Force”.
It will also offer academic training, training to combat weapons of mass destruction, and a set of medical-surgical and social services provided for the benefit of the population of the region of Akka by a military field hospital.
As the largest military exercise in Africa that contributes to the strengthening of operational, technical, and procedural interoperability between the participating armies, the 2024 African Lion exercise is an indispensable event where military executives come together to exchange expertise, particularly in terms of combined joint training.
This twentieth edition is an illustration of the solid cooperation between the FAR and the United States Armed Forces and the historical links uniting the two countries.
