A total of 3,742 people from the districts most affected by the earthquake of September 8 benefited from the four multidisciplinary medical caravans in Ouarzazate province (September 15-19).
Per High Royal Directives, these medical caravans, launched by the Ouarzazate Provincial Delegation for Health and Social Protection in coordination with the local authorities, provided 3,252 consultations in several specialties.
The medical caravans, which mobilized substantial logistical and human resources to meet the healthcare needs of the affected populations, toured the territorial communes of Telouet, with an estimated population of 14,060, Khouzama (7,490), Tidili (15,285), and Imi N’oulaoune (21,061).
Over 90 doctors from the public and private sectors, nurses, and health personnel took part in this initiative, the deployment of which involved establishing five mobile medical units, including a medical biology laboratory and modules for radiology, gynecology, ophthalmology, and dentistry.
The medical consultations provided for beneficiaries covered different medical specialties such as cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, pneumo-phthisiology, psychology, and environmental health.
On this occasion, large quantities of medicines were distributed for the benefit of the populations concerned, in addition to psychological assistance that was provided for those impacted by the earthquake.
According to the Communications Officer at the Provincial Health and Social Protection Delegation, Hicham El Idrissi, these medical caravans sought to bring health and psychological services closer to the citizens affected by the earthquake.
In a statement to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), El Idrissi stated that all the social categories targeted have benefited from the actions undertaken as part of these caravans, stressing the importance of mobilizing specialized psychology teams for the benefit of these populations.
El Idrissi also added that in addition to medical care, children had the opportunity to participate in recreational activities and were provided psychological support sessions to help them overcome this ordeal.
This initiative is of great importance to the populations affected by the earthquake, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for His high solicitude towards the stricken populations.
