AU Summit: Under Leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco Reaffirms Firm Position in Support of Palestinian Cause

Morocco, under the Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, reaffirms its firm and clear position in support of the Palestinian cause and its attachment to a peaceful settlement based on the two-state solution to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.

Intervening at the 37th African Union Summit on February 18 in Addis Ababa, the Moroccan diplomat affirmed that the Kingdom will continue its tireless efforts to defend the Holy Sites and Al-Quds Al-Sharif by combining political and diplomatic action through Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, the executive arm of Al-Quds Al-Sharif Committee, in the implementation of concrete plans and projects, with the aim of preserving the cultural identity of the Holy City and improving the living conditions of the Maqdessis.

In this regard, Bourita noted that the Kingdom shares with brotherly African countries the feelings of great sadness in the face of the violent events taking place in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which goes against international laws and human values.

In the same context, the Minister recalled that His Majesty the King had stressed in his speech on the occasion of the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh the need for collective action to achieve four urgent priorities, namely inducing urgent and concrete de-escalation and putting an end to military aggression, ensuring the protection of civilians in accordance with international law, enabling the smooth delivery of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities for the benefit of the populations of Gaza, and establishing a political perspective for the Palestinian cause within the two-state solution, as agreed by the international community.
