BCIJ Dismantles Terrorist Network Active in Recruiting Fighters to Join Daesh in Sahel-Saharan Region

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGSN), dismantled on January 29 and 30 in the cities of Tangier, Casablanca, Béni Mellal and Inzegane, a terrorist network including four members active in recruiting fighters to join a branch of “Daesh” in the Sahel-Saharan region.

According to a press release, the searches carried out at the homes of the suspects, aged 35 to 40, resulted in the seizure of several electronic devices, sums of money, bladed weapons, hoods, gloves and a rifle.

This operation illustrates the commitment of Moroccan security services to facing the rising threats posed by “Daesh” and other terrorist organizations, especially in the wake of the incentives emanating from these organizations calling to join their ranks, particularly in the Sahel.

The individuals arrested were placed in police custody as part of the investigation carried out by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ), under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office in charge of terrorism and extremism affairs, to determine their links to terrorist organizations abroad and identify their potential terrorist plans.
