Burkinabe Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation, and Expatriates, Olivia Ragnaghnèwendé Rouamba, stated, Wednesday in Rabat, that Morocco has shown great solidarity with Burkina Faso in the face of security threats.
“Morocco has spared no effort in showing its solidarity with Burkina Faso in the face of security challenges and we really want to express our gratitude, on behalf of the highest authority in Burkina Faso, His Excellency President Ibrahim Traoré, for this unwavering support,” said Rouamba at a press conference following her meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
Rouamba also noted that her country has been plagued by terrorism since 2016, which resulted in severe humanitarian consequences, recalling that the Kingdom “has been supporting Burkina Faso internationally.”
The Burkinabe Foreign Minister further added that Morocco also provided “considerable support in terms of training to boost several fields, namely agriculture, and health,” describing her meeting with the Moroccan Foreign Minister as a “manifestation of trust, brotherhood and deep friendship.”
Rouamba further reaffirmed her gratitude “to the brotherly Moroccan people for the solidarity they have shown to Burkina Faso, especially during this time.“
On this occasion, Rouamba reiterated Burkina Faso’s support to the Moroccan Kingdom on its territorial unity and the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, adding that together with Morocco, Burkina Faso places territorial integrity at the heart of its priorities.
In a similar context, the Burkinabe minister stressed that Burkina Faso’s support for the Kingdom in the search for a lasting solution that preserves its integrity, unity, and sovereignty, under the auspices of the United Nations, “is a strong commitment that we will always respect.”
