Morocco’s national basketball team was crowned, on July 16 in Luanda, champion of the 2023 FIBA AfroCan, beating Côte d’Ivoire (78-76).
In the semi-finals, the Moroccan team defeated the reigning champions of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with 76 points to 69.
After winning the opening match against Rwanda (59-58), Morocco lost to Tunisia (67-52) before recording three consecutive victories against Cameroon, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), securing their place in the finals of this African competition, and ultimately crowned champions.
For its part, the Ivorian team was defeated by Kenya in their opening match before catching up with Gabon and Mali and beating Rwanda in the semi-finals (74-71).
Rwanda snatched third place after beating the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) (82-73) in the classification match for the third and fourth places.
