The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held talks, on April 4 in Rabat, with the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General (UNSG) for the Moroccan Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, in the presence of the Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Omar Hilale.
This visit is part of a regional tour to the parties cited by Security Council (SC) resolution 2703, with the aim of relaunching the political process of round tables with the participation of Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, and the “polisario”, as the only framework defined by Security Council resolutions to achieve a realistic, pragmatic, lasting political solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
On this occasion, the Moroccan delegation recalled the constants of the Kingdom’s position, as reaffirmed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, stating that there is:
- No process outside the framework of round tables defined by the United Nations (UN), with the full participation of Algeria;
- No solution outside of Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative;
- No serious process while there are daily violations of the ceasefire by “Polisario” militias.
