His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, chaired, on July 31 at the Mechouar Square in Tetouan, on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the Sovereign’s accession to the throne of His glorious ancestors, the oath-taking ceremony for the officers of the classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, graduates of the major military and paramilitary schools and institutes, and officers who were promoted.
His Majesty the King, may Allah assist Him, graciously named these promotions after “Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem.”
After the national anthem was played in salute to the national flag, the Sovereign delivered the following message:
“Praise be to Allah,
May peace and blessings be upon the Prophet, His Kith, and Kin
Honorable Officers,
The conditions imposed by the pandemic prevented Us from receiving previous groups of graduates from military, security, and territorial institutions.
Today, it is Our pleasure to receive you for this oath-taking ceremony, in Our capacity as the Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
We are all the more satisfied with the modern instruction and in-service training you have been provided and Our Forces’ mobilization, vigilance, and commitment to national duty.
We have decided to name the four Groups of Graduates for the years 2020-2023 after Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, given the special place Her Royal Highness holds among the loyal Moroccan people. It is also in recognition of all that Her Royal Highness has been doing to promote social benefits for the members of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) as well as Her Royal Highness’ action to help aid women and children.
We, therefore, invite you to live up to what your responsibilities demand of you in terms of integrity, commitment, discipline, and sincere, unwavering patriotism, thus remaining faithful to your everlasting motto: Allah, the Homeland, the King.”
Following the oath-taking ceremony, His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, reviewed several detachments of the graduated officers.
The sworn-in classes include officers from major military schools, namely the Royal Military Academy (ARM), the Air Royal School (ERA), the Royal Naval School (ERN), and the Royal School of Military Health Services (ERSSM).
Added to them are Special Corps officers and newly-promoted officers from the ranks of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the Royal Gendarmerie, and the Auxiliary Forces.
In addition to the graduates of active officer training schools, there are reserve officers from major paramilitary schools, graduates of different schools and institutes, notably the Mohammedia School of Engineers (EMI), the Royal Institute of Territorial Administration (IRAT) of the Ministry of the Interior, the Royal Institute of Police (IRP), the National School of Forest Engineers (ENFI), and the Customs Training Institute (IFD).
During this ceremony, His Majesty King Mohammed VI promoted several senior officers to the ranks of General and Colonel-Major and authorized the dissemination of the promotion list of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) staff for the year 2023.
This Royal gesture reflects the special attention that His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), attaches to the family of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
His Majesty the King received, on July 29 in Tetouan, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the South Zone, Lieutenant General Mohamed Berrid, who also chaired the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) Promotion Commission. On this occasion, Lieutenant General Berrid submitted to His Majesty the conclusions of the promotion process for officer and non-officer personnel of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR).
During this briefing, the Chairman of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) Promotion Commission conveyed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI the deep gratitude and pride of the members of the Commission for the expressions of Solicitude and the High Royal Directions and Instructions, which have inspired and guided the work of the Commission throughout all its phases.
The Commission’s conclusions and the promotion list received the High Approval of His Majesty the King, who gave His High Instructions to convey His Congratulations to the newly promoted staff, encouraging all FAR personnel to proceed in the fulfillment of the noble mission assigned to them, loyal to the sacred motto: “Allah, The Homeland, The King.”
The oath-taking ceremony was also attended by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, His Majesty the King’s advisors, government officials, Presidents of constitutional bodies, Senior Officers of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Morocco.
