His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, launched, Friday in Sidi Moussa, Lamrissa district in Salé, the national operation “Ramadan 1444”, initiated by Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for the benefit of nearly 5 million people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
This gesture of generosity, which is especially meaningful during this holy month, symbolizes the ongoing Royal concern for people who are socially vulnerable and serves to elevate the Moroccan society’s principles of humanity, solidarity, and mutual aid.
In accordance with High Royal Instructions, the “Ramadan 1444” operation, with a budget of 390 million dirhams, is characterized by an increase in the number of beneficiaries, which rose to one million households, compared to 600,000 households during the previous edition.
On the occasion of this 24th edition, His Majesty the King also gave His High Instructions for the composition of food aid to be improved with new items, particularly rice and milk.
This national operation, which was organized by the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, has grown over time into an annual occasion with the goal of providing comfort and assistance to the most vulnerable social groups, particularly widows, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
It is consistent with the humanitarian initiative of Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, which aims to support those who are most in need while fostering a culture of solidarity.
For the smooth running of this operation, thousands of people are mobilized, supported by social workers and volunteers, at the distribution points set up across the national territory. They will see to the delivery of food aid to the heads and representatives of the beneficiary families.
At the distribution points set up around the national territory, thousands of people, assisted by social actors and volunteers, are mobilized to ensure the smooth running of this operation and supervise food delivery to beneficiary families.
Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity is assisted by the social services of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the National Mutual Aid office, the National Promotion, and local authorities to assure the success of this solidarity operation. The National Food Safety Office (ONSSA) and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection each have responsibility for quality control of the food distributed.
On this occasion, HM the King symbolically handed over food baskets to ten of the beneficiary families, before posing for a photo memory with volunteers who took part in this solidarity initiative.
This national operation has, since its launch in 1998, mobilized an overall budget of nearly 2 billion dirhams, with the number of beneficiary families increasing to one million this year, compared to 34,100 during the first year of launch.
The “Ramadan 1444” operation thus comes in addition to the various humanitarian actions initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote a culture of solidarity and ensure sustainable human development.
