The Groups of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab States at the United Nations (UN) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) commended, Tuesday in New York, the constant efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in His capacity as Chairman of al-Quds Committee in support of the Palestinian cause.
During a high-level Security Council debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian matter, chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, whose country holds the rotating presidency of the Council for April, Mauritania’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) highlighted, on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which brings together 55 member states of the United Nations (UN), His Majesty the King’s tireless efforts to preserve the Islamic Holy sites in Al-Quds Asharif against attempts at Judaization.
The Mauritanian diplomat, whose country holds the presidency of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), further praised the role of Bayt Mal al-Quds Agency in implementing its activities and development projects in support of Palestinians.
Lebanon’s representative, in her capacity as President of the Arab Group at the United Nations (UN) for April, also praised the role of al-Quds Committee and the important action that this Committee undertakes in favor of al-Quds inhabitants, mainly through Bayt Mal al-Quds Agency.
Azerbaijan’s representative also commended, on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the efforts of His Majesty the King as Chairman of al-Quds Committee while emphasizing the important role of al-Quds Appeal, signed by the Sovereign and His Holiness Pope Francis in Morocco in March 2019.
The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which brings together 120 member states of the United Nations (UN), also expressed its appreciation for al-Quds Appeal, which stresses the important role of the Holy City as a symbol of tolerance and mutual respect between the three monotheistic religions. The Non-Aligned Movement further noted that the appeal stresses the imperative of preserving the specificities and character of al-Quds as a city of peaceful coexistence.
In a similar context, the Gabonese Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) and member of the Security Council (SC) also praised His Majesty the King’s role in preserving the special status of the Holy City as a symbol of humanity’s common heritage and peaceful coexistence between the three monotheistic religions.
Such recognition is a unanimous appreciation on the part of the Arab Group, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the Islamic Ummah in New York for His Majesty the King’s leadership as Chairman of al-Quds Committee and for His Majesty’s tireless efforts at the international level to support the Palestinian cause, preserve the specific status of the Holy City and assist Palestinians.
