Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, reviewed Monday the final preparations relating to the layout of the location that will host the 15th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), set to take place between May 2 and 7 in Meknes.
The Minister of Agriculture, accompanied by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, Governor of the prefecture of Fez, Said Zniber, Governor of the prefecture of Meknes, Abdelghani Sebbar, SIAM Commissioner, Jaouad Chami, and a large delegation of senior officials from the Ministry and representatives of local authorities, toured the various stands, poles, pavilions, and locations of the exhibition, organized this year under the theme “Green Generation: for a sustainable food sovereignty.”
This visit was an opportunity to closely monitor the exhibition’s preparations ahead of the official opening of this international agricultural event next week.
On this occasion, Sadiki underlined, in a statement to the press, that preparations are underway to ensure the success of the exhibition, noting that the exhibition should see the participation of around 1400 exhibitors from 68 countries, including major international actors.
The Minister of Agriculture stated that this year’s edition will be marked by the organization of a series of workshops and conferences addressing current issues, including food sovereignty and climate change, further announcing the signing of 20 contract programs on production chains.
“This falls within the framework of the implementation of the Green Generation 2020-2030 strategy,” explained Sadiki, adding that this international event will showcase the latest developments in research and innovation at the international level, and the development of a business space to facilitate future partnerships in business and trade.
Sadiki further noted that SIAM will feature a stand devoted to local products, with the participation of approximately 500 carefully selected cooperatives (including those led by women), which will enable exhibitors to market and promote their products and to become aware of new agricultural practices.
For his part, Chami stated that the 15th edition of SIAM will feature a diverse and rich program, emphasizing that almost 2000 species will be exhibited in the breeding pole.
The UK will be the guest of honor of the 15th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM). According to this exhibition’s organizers, the UK’s participation as the guest of honor of this year’s edition reflects “the excellent longstanding relations between the two Kingdoms”, and will allow participants “to discover and explore the richness and diversity of British agriculture.”
