The elements of the national security at the port of Tangier city defeated, Monday evening, an attempt to traffic 67 kilograms of cocaine on board a utility vehicle registered abroad, coming from a Spanish port, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release.
The stop and search operation carried out by trained police dogs, as well as the automated control procedures carried out in coordination with the customs services, led to the seizure of the cocaine which was carefully concealed in the cavities of the bodywork of the car, says the same source.
The driver of the car, a 49-year-old Moroccan citizen residing in France, was arrested and placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial inquiry conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the circumstances of this case, as well as as its regional extensions and its possible links with the international traffic of cocaine, underlines the press release.
