Press Release: Signing of a cooperation agreement between the Competition Council and the Foreign Exchange Office

The Competition Council and the Foreign Exchange Office signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday, October 04, 2022 at the headquarters of the Council. This partnership aims to set up a formalized framework for the exchange of information, data and expertise in relation to areas of common interest.


Signed by Mr. Ahmed RAHHOU, President of the Competition Council and Mr. Hassan BOULAKNADAL, Managing Director of the Office des Changes, this cooperation agreement will allow access to information and studies produced by the two institutions within the framework of their respective assignments.


The foundation of this partnership is based on the crucial role of the two institutions in the development and modernization of our country’s economy. It reflects their common ambition and their firm desire to contribute to improving the business climate in Morocco, in a context of increasingly tough global competition.


This partnership agreement will promote actions in favor of the competitive regulation of markets and ultimately the protection of consumers, by combating non-competitive practices, in the light of information concerning the flow of foreign trade in products, services and capital.


In addition, said agreement will allow access to information and studies produced by the two parties within the framework of their respective missions, but also the exchange of experience and the development of the skills of their collaborators, in terms of law and economics of competition as well as in terms of foreign exchange regulations. The areas of this cooperation also include the organization of working sessions and meetings on technical and specific topics, related to the fields of action of the Competition Council and the Foreign Exchange Office.
