The Directorate General of Meteorology (DGM) announced that a heat wave is forecast from July 12 to 14 in several of the Kingdom’s provinces, with temperatures ranging from 37 to 48°C.
The Directorate stated that temperatures between 45 and 48°C are expected on July 12 and 13 in the provinces of Fquih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Chichaoua, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Tata, Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Outanane, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Boujdour, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab, listing it under the “red” alert bulletin.
The same source also reported, in an “orange” alert bulletin, that a heat wave (42 to 45° C) is forecast over in the provinces of Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Guercif, Moulay Yacoub, Sefrou, Fez, Boulemane, El Hajeb, Meknès, Taza, Taounate, Ouezzane, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Azilal, Khouribga, Settat, Essaouira, Youssoufia, Al Haouz, Errachidia, Zagora, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Guelmim, Tan-Tan, and Sidi Ifni.
High temperatures ranging from 37 to 42°C are also expected in Tetouan, Khemisset, Al Hoceima, Nador, Chefchaouen, Berkane, and Driouch.
The same source concluded that the heatwave will persist on July 14 in the provinces of Fquih Ben Saleh, Beni Mellal, Chichaoua, Youssoufia, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Rehamna, Marrakech, Khouribga, Settat, Essaouira, Tata, Taroudant, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Guelmim, Tan-Tann Sidi Ifni, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Zagora, Boujdour, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab, with temperatures fluctuating between 43 and 46°C.
