The Israeli Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, praised on June 8 in Rabat the role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in His capacity as Chairman of al-Quds Committee, in mediating between Israelis and Palestinians to achieve peace in the region.
“His Majesty’s significant role as Chairman of al-Quds Committee and the trust His Majesty gains from all sides from all parties give Him not only a deep understanding of the area and the challenges we are all facing but also the right position to be able to mediate for the peace which we all wish to see,” said Ohana to the press following his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami.
The Israeli official stressed, in this regard, that “thanks to His Majesty’s groundbreaking and innovative thinking, the vision of peace became closer.”
Commenting on his visit to the Moroccan parliament, the Knesset Speaker emphasized that his visit is “the first of its kind in Israel’s history to the parliament of a Muslim country,” praising His Majesty the King “for His embracive forward-looking Leadership, for His vision of peace, for His groundbreaking and innovative thinking.”
Ohana also recalled the generosity shown to Moroccan Jews by the late His Majesty King Mohammed VI, noting, in particular, the late Sovereign’s role in protecting Jews from Nazi oppression during the Second World War.
“The Jews will always be grateful to Him,” concluded Ohana.
