The Saudi Football Club Al Hilal announced, on August 17, the signing of Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
The Atlas Lions’ goalkeeper left FC Sevilla via a transfer worth $21 million, signing with AlHilal for three years, with an optional extra year.
After almost four years with FC Sevilla, Bounou left the Sevillian club, with whom the Moroccan footballer played 142 official matches and won several titles, one of the best track records of any Moroccan international in Europe.
In the previous 2022-2023 season, Bounou won the Europa League by becoming the penalty shootout hero following a 1-1 draw with AS Roma, a game during which the Moroccan goalkeeper saved two penalties to secure a second European title with Sevilla.
On this occasion, FC Sevilla released a statement reminiscing Bounou’s remarkable four years with the Spanish club, recalling that the Moroccan footballer “made 36 appearances, and once again played a key role as the team won more silverware” with a series of crucial saves in the latter stages of the UEFA Europa League.
“Sevilla FC thanks Bounou for his hard work and effort during his four-year spell, and wishes him the very best of luck in the future; thank you, Bono!” concluded the Sevillan club.
In the Saudi club, Bounou will play alongside several other football stars, including Neymar, Malcom, Koulibaly, Milinkovic-Savic, and Ruben Neves.
