The Atlas Lions will face Guinea Bissau on Wednesday towards the third day of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Qatar. Thus, the Moroccan team must win this match to qualify for the play-offs.
“The victory is decisive for the qualification to the play-offs,” the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, said on Tuesday after a training session of the National Team at the Prince Moulay Abdallah sports complex in Rabat. Not to mention that the Moroccan coach mentioned to what extent The Atlas Lions have good spirits to face the formidable Bissau-Guinean team whose most players play in Europe, which is viewed as a warning.
“The match will certainly be challenging, but the Moroccan players are determined enough to win and take all three points to validate their ticket to the next round “, he added, stressing that the team will be without its striker, Youssef En-Nesyri because of being injured. Halilhodzic added that “the national team, which will play three tough games in a week, is ready for the challenge as long as the players are ready physically and mentally to win “.
Meanwhile, the captain of the Atlas Lions, Ghanem Saïss, also insisted on the need to win the decisive match against Guinea-Bissau and the other two ones coming up.
Morocco will face Guinea-Bissau twice, on 6 and 9 October in Rabat and Casablanca, before playing a third match with the Guinean team on 12 October in Rabat. The Atlas Lions currently occupy second place in Group I with 3 points, after winning the match against Sudan at home (2-0).
