Agriculture: 16th Edition of SIAM to Take Place in April 2024 in Meknes

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests announced that the 16th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco, SIAM, will take place between April 22 and 28, 2024, in Meknes, under the theme “Climate and Agriculture: For Sustainable and Resilient Production Systems”.

The Ministry affirmed in a press release that the 2024 edition of SIAM, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will welcome Spain as the guest of honor, a country with “one of the most important agricultural sectors in Western Europe”.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the selection of Spain as guest of honor testifies to the excellent long-standing relations uniting Morocco and Spain, as well as the level and quality of cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.

Spain’s participation will offer exhibitors and visitors the opportunity to discover and explore the wealth and diversity of Spanish agriculture and will also provide a platform for prospecting and developing business partnerships and promoting investment in the agricultural sector on both sides.

SIAM’s next edition will focus on adaptation and mitigation efforts to improve agricultural sector resilience, in a global context characterized by climate change, which is affecting agricultural production, the availability of water resources, and food security. The conferences organized during SIAM will feature renowned national and international experts and scientists.

This edition will also feature the holding of the national agricultural research conference, a meeting that will highlight the scientific and technological advances achieved, as well as the future strategy of agricultural research in support of the Generation Green strategy for the development of Moroccan agriculture, launched by His Majesty the King in 2020, at the end of the Green Morocco Plan.

The press release also announced that the Regional Director of Agriculture for Fez-Meknes, Kamal Hidane, will act as interim Commissioner for the 16th edition, recalling that Jaouad Chami, who has been SIAM’s General Commissioner since 2006, has made a major contribution to the development of this Exhibition since its establishment, positioning it as one of the biggest international agricultural events and a global benchmark in the agricultural sector.

“Alongside the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, and the SIAM Association, he [Chami] has been able, thanks to the support and backing of SIAM’s several partners and stakeholders, to establish it as a key event for agriculture professionals, both nationally and internationally”, noted the press release.

Currently a leading global event, SIAM focuses on agriculture and agricultural stakeholders. In 2023, the Exhibition brought together over 923,000 visitors, 1,400 exhibitors, 2,000 breeders, and 70 participating countries.
