Morocco, Bulgaria Express Commitment to Strengthening Relations

Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita stated, on January 10, in Rabat, that Morocco and Bulgaria are committed to strengthening their bilateral relations and establishing a partnership that meets their ambitions, in accordance with the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

During a joint press briefing with his Bulgarian counterpart, Mariya Gabriel, Bourita stressed the need to adapt the institutional framework of these relations so that it supports the two countries’ ambitions.

In this regard, the minister underlined the importance of focusing on priority areas for both Morocco and Bulgaria, such as food security, renewable energies, and culture, recalling the celebration by the two countries of the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations which have always been based on sincere friendship, dialogue, solidarity, and cooperation.

Praising the solid relations uniting the two countries, Bourita noted that Morocco considers Bulgaria a key actor for the stability of the Balkan region and an influential country within the European Union (EU).

Talks between the two ministers also focused on ways to strengthen relations in the consular field, and it was agreed to form a joint consular commission in charge of human exchanges and the fight against human trafficking as well as illegal migration, two issues that Morocco handles with a high sense of responsibility.
