The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, held talks on April 23 in Rabat, with the Emissary of the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Sami El-Menfi, bearing a message to His Majesty King Mohammed VI from the Council’s Chairman Mohamed Younes El Menfi.
In a statement to the press following this meeting, the Charge D’Affaires at the Libyan Embassy in Morocco, Ambassador Aboubaker Ibrahim Ataweel, revealed that this visit reflects the excellent brotherly relations uniting Libya and Morocco.
In this regard, Ataweel expressed his country’s gratitude to Morocco for its constant and permanent support, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, which is reflected through the numerous agreements concluded, notably those of Skhirat, Bouznika, and Tangier.
The Libyan official also shed light on Morocco’s active contribution to the settlement of the Libyan crisis and the Kingdom’s support for the conclusion of a series of agreements, noting that the Skhirat agreement which was concluded in 2015 remains a reference for the settlement of the Libyan crisis.
Ataweel added this visit is also part of efforts aimed at strengthening the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) to respond to the aspirations of the people of the region for greater stability and prosperity, said the Libyan ambassador, stressing the Kingdom’s constant commitment to the integration of the Maghreb.
