The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, praised, on September 19, Morocco’s rapid response to the earthquake that struck Al Haouz region, under the Wise Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In a statement to Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP), Georgieva stated that she “spent five years as a Humanitarian and Crisis Response commissioner,” adding that she “witnessed on several occasions that when a nation comes together, it can overcome the most dramatic challenges, and that is the case for Morocco, under the Leadership of His Majesty the King.”
The Managing Director emphasized the “importance of a country rallying in times of crisis and showing solidarity.”
Georgieva also praised the “generosity of the hearts” of all Moroccans, who showed a remarkable surge of solidarity to help those affected by the earthquake, adding that this solidarity speaks volumes about the generosity of Moroccans.
“I know that when we come [to Marrakech in October for the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund] we will be welcomed with the same generosity,” affirmed IMF’s Managing Director.
The IMF Managing Director has also confirmed that the World Bank Group – IMF Annual Meetings will proceed as planned in Marrakech (October 9 – 15).
