FM Nasser Bourita Highlights Morocco’s Unconditional Support for Legitimate Rights of Palestinian People

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, highlighted, on December 19, in Marrakech, Morocco’s unconditional support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Intervening during a joint press briefing with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad Al Maliki, following their talks on the sidelines of the 6th edition of the Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum, Bourita stated that his meeting with Al Maliki was an opportunity to discuss the situation in Gaza and reaffirm the constant positions of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of Al-Quds Committee, in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders with East Al-Quds as its capital.

Bourita also stressed that Morocco constantly and unconditionally supports the establishment of a Palestinian state as well as all efforts carried out by the Palestinian Authority (PA) for the consecration of the rights of the Palestinian people.

Recalling the Kingdom’s positions on the situation in Gaza, expressed during the Riyadh Summit by His Majesty the King, Bouritaput shed light on the clear responsibility of the international community, considering the inability to put an end to Israeli aggressions in the Gaza Strip unacceptable and inexplicable.

In this context, the minister noted that Morocco expresses its rejection of targeting Palestinian civilians, and calls for a permanent and controlled ceasefire and the smooth delivery, in sufficient quantities, of humanitarian aid to the r=brotherly Palestinian people.

“Today, human conscience and all the mechanisms of international law, as well as the international institutions concerned, assume responsibility for this situation,” said Bourita in this regard, noting that “the management of the crisis must not be neglected”, and calling for a real pause to establish a lasting peace that preserves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the security and safety of all countries, including Israel.

Regarding the provocations and unilateral actions underway in Al Quds, the latest of which is the confiscation of land in Al Quds-East, Mr. Bourita stressed that His Majesty the King follows with concern these unacceptable actions which fuel the conflict and contribute to strengthening the extremists on each side.

Referring to the provocations and unilateral actions underway in Al Quds, the Moroccan official noted that Morocco reiterates its call for an end to these provocations and for Israel to cease its unilateral actions, while engaging in a real political process with the Palestinian Authority, adding that there can be no stability or peace in the region without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
